Frequently asked questions

What is TimeGap?

A time zone converter and meeting planner in one page. You set a base city, add the cities you care about, and one draggable marker shows what time it is in all of them at the same instant.

What makes TimeGap different from other time zone converters?

One marker across every city at once, rather than converting a pair at a time. Your reachable hours are drawn on each city's own clock, best overlap names the times that suit the most people, and holidays and travel dates sit in the same view. No account, no advertising.

How do I compare time zones across several cities?

Add each city to the list. Every row reads the same moment on its own clock, so you can compare as many places as you like at once, and reorder them into whatever order you think in.

How do I find the best time for an international meeting?

Best overlap finds the stretches of the day when the most cities on your list are reachable at once, counting you. When today has none, it names the next day that does and takes you there.

What do the shaded bands on the strip mean?

They are your reachable hours, drawn on each city's own clock - the hours you would actually take a call, which is not the same as office hours. Set them once and every strip, badge and overlap follows.

Does TimeGap handle daylight saving time automatically?

Yes. Every time is worked out in your browser from its own time-zone database, so daylight saving is already in the answer. A city whose clocks have just changed, or are about to, says so on its row.

Does TimeGap show public holidays?

Yes, for every country on your list. A row flags a holiday today or the next one coming, and the full calendar is a click away. A ≈ marks a date that moves locally.

Can I convert one specific time instead of dragging the marker?

Yes. Convert a time takes a time and date from any city on your list - or a universal zone - and shows it everywhere else, spelling out whose weekend or public holiday it lands on. One button copies every city's time.

Can I use TimeGap while travelling?

Yes. Set where you are going and the dates, and your base switches over on the first day and hands back after the last, so the whole list is measured from wherever you actually are.

Can I search by time zone or UTC offset instead of a city?

Yes. CET, IST, PT, UTC+2 and the like all resolve, as do IANA zone names. A city that is not in the list resolves to the nearest one we do have on the same clock.

Do I need an account?

No. Your base, your cities and your reachable hours are kept in this browser, and only if you agree to it. The app works exactly the same if you decline - you just set it up again next visit.

Is TimeGap free?

Yes, and there is no advertising, no third-party cookies and nothing sold. Usage is counted as anonymous aggregates with no IP addresses and no cross-day identifiers, and Do Not Track is honoured.
